The Four S.P.A. Life Principles
-
Principle #1: Cost Effective
Renewing your body, mind, and spirit can cost almost nothing. This is by design. The cost should never exceed the benefits.
-
Principle #2: Care
Caring for your body, mind, and spirit by enjoying spa experiences is a proven path to cultivating health, wellness, and happiness.
-
Principle #3: Create
Creating an elevated approach to your everyday activities through mindfulness, or learning something new feeds your soul.
-
Principle #4: Connect
Connecting to yourself, to others, to nature, and to organizations or causes that are larger than yourself provides support and community.
S.P.A. Life Principles
The foundational principle for living the S.P.A. Life is that with just a little bit of imagination and inspiration, doing so should cost nothing - or very nearly.
For this reason, the S.P.A. Life is grounded in everyday practices and attitudes, not necessarily the buying of goods or services to renew your body, mind, and spirit. (So, I guess I won’t be getting any product sponsorships any time soon!) It’s on this foundation of cost effectiveness that the other 3 principles are built: to care, to create, and to connect.
These principles are purposefully broad and flexible enough to allow you to create your own S.P.A. Life experiences with whatever you’ve got. If you look for opportunities to enjoy a moment of care for yourself by sitting quiet and still, or create a more relaxing atmosphere listening to a gentle song, or connect over the phone with a supportive friend you will find yourself renewing your body, mind, and spirit without spending a dime.
I will share with you my personal thoughts on living the S.P.A. Life, reviews of products and services, and connect you to the world wide web of self-care and wellness ideas that lend themselves to DIY. Then, it’s up to you to apply these principles and take your spa experiences wherever you want them to go, on whatever you can afford!
Applying the S.P.A. Life principles
To apply the four S.P.A. Life principles to your everyday routines to transform them into revitalizing spa experiences is easy! Just ask yourself:
What can I do while doing [activity] to + [select principle]?
Let’s take a day-in-the-life example: Coming home from work or school.
Principle #2: What can I do while driving or riding home to care for my spirit?
Possible answer: Listen to your favorite, relaxing music.
Principle #3: What can I do while driving or riding home to use this time creatively?
Possible answer: I can listen to a French music station to help me learn French.
Principle #4: What can I do while driving or riding home to connect with others around me?
Possible answer: I can smile at the person beside me and let them go first.
And just like that, you’re living the S.P.A. Life - and it didn’t cost you a dime (principle #1)!
Hopefully, occasionally, you will be able to treat yourself to professional spa services, which I heartily recommend, and you absolutely deserve. But in the meantime, by applying these four principles, you’ll soon find your daily life transformed as you live the S.P.A. Life!
